Domestic Partner Benefits

Appalachian State University offers certain domestic partner benefits to the faculty and staff at ASU. For benefits currently being offered please see the information below.

Future benefits are anticipated to be added so please check back routinely for updates and information alerts.

The North Carolina State Health Plan currently allows legal spouses to be covered for major medical benefits. A valid marriage certificate is required for domestic partners to be added.  Outside of annual enrollment, partners may only be allowed within 30 days of marriage.

Domestic partners can:

  • Purchase dependent ID by paying the required fee through the AppCard office
  • Access all recreational facilities by paying the required fees through the AppCard Office (Employee payroll deduction for the access fee is an option.)
  • Access any events sponsored by Health Promotions, such as classes, work-out facilities, etc.
  • Access all library resources. Please note: Domestic Partner of employee must have a University issued ID card to check out any library resources
